VISAS AND FOREIGN IDENTITY CARD
Work Permit
The work permit can be obtained before traveling to Peru. If obtained abroad once the application enters immigrations, the worker will not be able to travel to Peru until he/she obtains the visa (it is issued at the Peruvian consulate abroad).
Once in Peru, the expat is required to get a certificate with Interpol (taking pictures and fingerprints) as it is a requirement requested by Immigrations. The timeline for issuing the card is 1 business day.
The Interpol office is located at the Monterrico Police Station – Av. Manuel Olguín S/N Cuadra #6 – Surco.
The final step is obtaining the Foreign Identity Card at the Immigrations office.
Family Visa
Once the Foreign Identity Card for the worker is issued, the family can apply for a Visa called “Family Call” for the spouse and children under 18 years of age.
The procedure starts from Peru, in this case the expats enters the country as a tourist and then requests to change their immigration status (their tourist visa must be valid at the time the application si submited).
If the expat needs to leave the country during the process, he/she must request a travel permit to Immigrations. This permit must be requested at least one week in advance and is granted for a maximum period of 30 days at a time. Once the expat obtains his/her Foreign Identity Card, he/she will no longer have this limitation.
Foreign Identity Card (FID)
This card must be renewed every year, the expat with expired residence (without extension) who leaves the country will lose residence.
The National Superintendence of Immigrations is located at: Prolongación Av. España 734, Breña.
Passport Renewal
When changing your passport, resident expats must inform us in order to process the “seal transfer” for your registration as a resident. Failure to perform this procedure may lead to problems when leaving and entering the country and when getting your residence extension.
Data Modification
On the day of your CE registration, personal information of the expat is registered such as your name, nationality, home address or marital status. If any information that was registered in the IRCE (CE registration record) is modified, the expat must inform us in order to update it. This procedure must be done within 30 days after the change, otherwise it will be subject to a fine.
Traveling with Minors
For all expats, consider that minor children who already have their Immigration Card and wish to travel outside the country and do not do so with both parents, must have a notarized permit, which must be signed by both parents in a Notary Public indicating the place to which he will travel and who will accompany the minor. In case the trip is within the country, they can travel with one of the parents, in case they travel with a third party they need a notarized permission signed by one of the parent
Taxation details when leaving the country
In order to leave the country once the immigration card is issued: the company in which the executive works must issue a Certificate of Income in which the income is indicated and it is declared that he/she has paid the corresponding taxes received. If you have not received any income, you must issue the Affidavit form of having directly paid the tax or the affidavit form of having carried out activities that do not involve the generation of income from Peruvian sources.
