For tourist information on Lima we recommend you visit the website www.visitalima.pe.  There you can find the detail of the main historical monuments of the city, as well as the museums, with a brief description, address and telephone numbers.

Do not miss the following attractions:

Lima Center:

  • Plaza de Armas: In it is the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima and the Municipal Palace. We recommend taking a tour of the Cathedral and seeing the changing of the guard of the Government Palace every day at noon.
  • Magic Circuit of the Waters: In the park of the Reserve. It has 12 impressive water fountains installed in a 180,000 m2 park. It is better to go at night because the fountains are illuminated.
  • The Convent and the Church of San Francisco: We recommend taking the tour of the Church and the catacombs. Both date from the 17th century.
  • Plaza San Martin: Square in honor of the Liberator Don José de San Martín. In this is the National Club. The square is considered Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO) and was inaugurated in 1921 at the centenary of independence. Then it has been remodeled.
  • Church of San Pedro: Beautiful church with altars and impressive paintings.
  • House of Aliaga: House built in 1535, year of the foundation of Lima. It was built by Captain Jerome de Aliaga. The descendants live there and take care of the house until now. Tel. 427-7736

In Miraflores:

  • Be sure to visit Kennedy Park and Larcomar (Shopping Center with a spectacular view of the sea). Strolling along the green coast and the boardwalk and enjoying its wonderful parks is recommended during the day.
  • There are excellent restaurants in the area. There is also the Huaca Puccllana (archaeological remains of the Lima culture), which offers tours and has a first class restaurant with a privileged view of the ruins.

In Barranco:

  • Lima’s bohemian neighborhood that was once a spa. Be sure to visit the viewpoint and the Bridge of Sighs, which inspired the most typical song of Lima, La Flor de la Canela. It has many bars and some good restaurants.
  • We also recommend De Osma Museum, it is a family museum with an excellent collection of colonial art.

In San Isidro:

  • Residential area. There are several of the most recognized restaurants in the city.
