Bills can be paid at banks, supermarkets and pharmacies, or they can be charged directly to your bank account. Usually charges apply if paid at bank offices. Bank fees are marked on the back of receipts. There is usually no extra cost for a bank account or for payment over the Internet.

Long Distance Operators:

When you want to make a long distance call, the most economical is the cell phone because the 3 main operators have plans that include several international calls within the normal plan. We recommend checking if your operator includes the country of your interest.

To call abroad you must first dial the operator number you wish to use, then 00 and then the country, city and telephone numbers you wish to contact.

Cellphone Plans:

  • pre-paid: The telephone device, as well as the cost of calls per minute is more expensive than in a post-payment. You must buy prepaid cards, make refills online or in supermarkets and charge the minutes on the cell phone.
  • post-payment: You contract a plan with the company at a monthly rate. These plans include a number of minutes to call any local and international operator. Most plans include international calls within free minutes to any operator. The extra minutes you use will be at a higher rate than the one stipulated in the agreed plan.

There is no cost for receiving calls on a cell phone hired in Lima, while in the city of Lima. 

The Movistar and Claro companies offer among their users extra packages of minutes or GB.   

Electricity

It is hired by the owners of the house that is rented.

The electricity is 220v and 60Hz.

Gas

If the gas is centralized, an independent account arrives by apartment and the tenant pays it. If it is with a gas balloon, the tenant must request the change of the balloon when it is finished.
